WITHOUT ANESTHESIA

WITHOUT ANESTHESIA

WHAT EASES THE PAIN
OF A BROKEN SOUL,
WHEN THE ONE YOU LOVE
HAS TRAMPLED YOUR HEART
LEAVING YOU ALONE, AND IN THE DARK.

CAN WORDS NUMB YOUR SENSES
TO THE EMPTINESS THAT ENFOLDS YOU,
AND FILL YOUR MIND WITH, WHAT IF.

MEDICATIONS CARESSES THE NERVES
STROKING ITS PAIN AWAY
IF FOR A MOMENT, IF FOR A DAY.

BUT THE HEART THAT HAS BEEN BROKEN
FORGET NOT, THE SCALPEL OF DECEIT
THAT WERE USED WITH PRECISION
TO CARVE AWAY THE MEMORIES
OF ITS FIRST ENCOUNTER
WITH LOVE.

AND SO LIFE GOES ON
FOR THE HEART THAT HAS BEEN DISSECTED
BY THE LIPS OF DECEIT
WITHOUT ANESTHESIA.

WILFORD BARKER.
