Without Thought

Without Thought

I never thought
of you
Much more
thanΒ
trying
to avoid
eye contact
as I hurried
through
the 7 Eleven

I never thought
of you
after
crossingΒ
the streetΒ
to another
sidewalk
so I didΒ
not have
to pass by
your cardboard
home

I never thought
of you
as I sat
on my couch
with plenty
to eat
electricity
and heatΒ
to keep myself
comfy

I never thought
of you when
I drove
pass you
in my brand new car
with Air Conditioning
on a scorching hot
summer's day

I never thought
of you
When I worried
about paying
my bills
and knelt
down
on my
knees
to pray
for God's
mercy

I guessΒ
the time
I only thought
of you
was when
I
pleaded with
God
to provide
for me
so that
I may
not become
you........................................................
