The Wolf and the Shepherd

The Wolf and the Shepherd
The wolf stands alone upon the hill
Waiting for darknessÂ
Waiting for a kill
Another victim of the nightÂ
A lost soul filled with frightÂ
All alone he makes his calls
Howling deep as midnight falls
His family waits for him to returnÂ
With a meal is what they yearn
He comes across a herd of sheep
An opportunity not too steepÂ
He sneaks around to find his preyÂ
As the Shepherd awakes before the day
He hears a stirring of the herdÂ
He grabs his gun to see what has occurredÂ
He sees a figure dark and sleek
Very skinny appearing weak
Creeping slowly through his farmÂ
The Shepherd fears he's meaning harmÂ
The wolf walks without knowingÂ
His ribs clearly showing
Starving to death he makes his moveÂ
To kill a sheep to get his food
A shot rings out across the landÂ
Now there's blood on the shepherds hands
The wolf that hunted now lies cold
Not fearing death for he was oldÂ
All he sees is his family dyingÂ
On this thought the wolf starts crying
As far as the shepherd sees he's done good
Another killing of a being misunderstoodÂ

Hi good poem, the wolf was the provider or bread winner of the home.In this poem, we find the love, affection and care he had for his family. Even well he was lying on his death bed he was worried about his family's welfare, survival and stomach. He feared they will die from hunger or starvation. Â
