The Wondering Son

Sleep escapes me--it leaves and lays a sorrow upon the heart.

There's no rest for a son that wonders in the dark.

The night is my bride, we honeymoon until the stars disappear

and become sapphire skies.

The warmth of the sun unwraps a new day

but I wish it's glimmer away,

it taunts me, it laughs at my distress, it dries up my bones, until there's nothing left.
