Woolly land long ago

Woolly land long ago

Tho history books may not mention it
There used to be a woolly land
That’s when every family in the country owned six sheep
They say It was so grand

I’m glad I didn’t live long ago
I hate getting cold
I can’t be doing with white snow
Especially now I’m getting old

You see it used to snow alot
It fell every single day
From December through to December it piled high
So the oldies say

Well that was the reason for the sheep
But can you just imagine the plight
What with the baaarin’ & a-maarin’
How on earth would they sleep at night ?

They say the sheep lived in their gardens
They were always in a stinky state
There was sheep muck piled ontop of snow
That’s something I would hate

Never-the-less people would be warm enough
They had plenty of sheep’s wools
Granny’s were constantly knitting
Woolly jumpers from the mules

They wore wool vests, socks,
t-shirts,jumpers
Wool gloves, coats & hats
Granny even knit-up smaller coats to cover the dogs & cats

So do you get the picture?
Is it imprinted in your mind
Every dam thing in woolly land
Was made of, you got it, wool of a kind

So the snow it fell everyday
They fed the sheep with imported hay
It was shipped in from another country far away
They had it off to a tee

Yet I wouldn’t fancy that life as such
Wool makes me itch as well
Especially a wool vest against
my skin
Crikeys I would scratch like helll

Just think about the smell & stink
It must have been a terrible mess
The sheeps muck would be everywhere you’d think
That’s what they were used to I guess
