Words

Words become sentences
Sentences can become statements
Or whispered prayers
We can speak from our hearts
Or let our minds control our speech
Some words we end up regretting
Ones that hurt and are too late to stop
Ones that are spoken in a wounded haste
Without second thought or contemplation
They are weapons those words
I am sorry for the ones I have used
Too often and thoughtlessly
I have shed many tears over those words
As perhaps you did
You see
Those words hurt more than you
They tore me apart as well
I live to learn
I hope you will know I did not mean
The things I said..
I hope I can explain someday..
I regret those words..

Very well said and I believe almost everyone can relate.
One of my favorite poems starts out with "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can also hurt me...."I don't know who wrote it, but the entire poem is very well written....as is this one. Great job

In my case the words are rather the words I did not speak, but yes, very relatable (see my piece Words fly up...)
Ah yes the words unspoken. Like I am sorry, or i love you
or May I help you ? Or I will not leave you ... and so many
more I can think of. some brave, some self serving, some
full of grace. ... I enjoyed your comment and I will read your work for sure.
Thank you for the comment..so much.
