Words Hurt

Words Hurt

It pierced my chest,
I felt it in my spine.
I’m short of breath,
Well I guess I don’t have much time
I gasp for air
And scream “it isn’t fair”
I don’t really expect anyone to care.

Back to haunt me
That’s what they do
I should have known my biggest fear was you.
I gave you the gun, primed and ready
I hoped you’d keep the safety on and hold it steady
I watched you take aim and fire
And every shot is like a witches pyre
It burns me up from inside out
Every word that leaves your familiar mouth
A mouth i once felt on mine...
Has just smiled as it said goodbye
For the final time...
