Worries of a young wise woman

Remember when you were younger? Ohh yes you do. Couldn't wait to "grow up" yeh me too.
Well time passes and passes and that time can't be given back. Those things you weren't allowed to do would now get you the sack.
When I was younger I would think "I can't wait to grow up, do whatever I please" you see that's not the case is it, I'm grown now, and that freedom, where's the keys?
Bills, relationships, daily life, I wanted it all, to become someone's wife.
Now sitting back on my sofa, dreaming of a holiday, well that's not going to happen just yet, responsibilities, utilities to pay.
It makes me sad to write this poem, not because I'm old, but because one day I will be and my youth will fold.
Family friends and memories will fade, like it or not that's just how we have been made.
I don't want to forget all the memories I have, the smells, the music, textures, conversations the good and the bad.
I feel the kids of today don't understand what it's like, to feel the grass between their toes and ride a bike.
Too much media is ruining these children, but instead of changing it, they make a documentary and film them.
We should all be thinking about our future today, after all the seconds are ticking away.
I'm 25 now, half way to 50, might mean nothing to some people even call me "lucky"
Ask yourself this, in 25 years where will you be? Here? Reading this? We shall see.

I have just turned fifty and am reading a beautifully written piece outlining the present day complexities of life with its associated concerns !! You are a writer who transfers feeling very ably through the page. There is skill in clearly expressing your emotional responses to situations in words and you do it with gusto.
Neat analytical reflective work displaying much verve and panache. Looking forward to reading more from you !
Wishing you the very best. :)
Thank you so much Richard! I have joined this page as I suffer with anxiety and it helps me express my feelings in a calm way! Your comment has really lifted my spirits with your kind words!
Writing poetry is cathartic, releasing tensions and stresses, as well as giving you a voice to express ideas, theories and emotions ! Writing gives you licence to examine yourself delving deep into the heart and soul.
Poetry is most potent when it is a release of innermost passions or feelings. Trying to write different approaches to various topics changes temperament and soothes in a satisfying manner !!
Hoping you find writing all you want it to be.
Take care. :)
Thank you Richard, I will continue to write and upload my other poems, feeling much better already!
:)
I love your work ! You are truly amazing and inspirational .... I wish you the best in everything you do ... I see that you differ from anxiety and so do I ... but it allows the mind to open up in ways never thought possible ... Thank You :-)
