Worse Than...

Worse Than...

Sometimes when I
am wallowing inĀ
self-pity,Ā and IĀ
see a war movie,
I think -Ā

Thank
God I am home
and not fighting
in some jungle or desert.

How can it be worse?

I could have aĀ
fatal illness.

I could beĀ
working in a sweatshop
in Central America.

I could be a chattel
slave somewhereĀ
in the world.

Any day above
ground is a good
day they say.

Mostly.

I think it could be
with universal health care
for all and with aĀ
universal basic income.

This allows
for freedom
and true choices.
