YESTERDAY

It feels like only yesterday
As a toddler, the first time I took you to see the sea.
The sun was hot and the sand was cool
You ran after some birds into a huge deep pool
Then screamed till I dragged you free!
It feels like only yesterday
You gazed at the twinkling stars
And thought of the girl who`s hand you`d take.
I could see that you loved her with all your heart
And what a lovely pair you`d make.
It feels like only yesterday
You cuddled your two boys.
Christmas was just lovely as you played with all their toys.
They grew so fast but adore you still
Now they miss you so, and always will.
The Lord saw your pain and he promised me
He`d take you home and set you free.
It feels like only yesterday
Just as your life was starting.
All your wishes and dreams were at their best
But he had to carry you home carefully
He knew you needed to rest.
In my heart your memory is fresh and true
Andrew there`s not a day that I don`t think of you.
You had to leave so early, it`s really hard to bear.
It hurts to see the places you loved so much
Now you`re no longer there.
It feels like only yesterday
They told me of a special journey.
From this old world, to the new
Some day I`ll make that journey, I promise
Which will lead me home to you.
It feels like only yesterday
When we were all together.
The memory of those happy days
Time can`t wipe out ever.
You loved me so tenderly
To your picture I often speak.
But I can`t hear you answer me
And my resolve is just so weak.
In my heart your love will stay
Always fresh and true.
Because I know the day will come
When again I`ll be hugging you.
For my son Andrew 25/2/78.......4/5/09
I miss you sweety.

Good day, Georgina! This piece is beautiful, with evocative words and phrasing. I'm so sorry you lost your son at such a young age. Your sadness in this piece is well mixed with hope, you are sure you'll see him in another life, and I believe you will. As Philip said, I'm sure this piece reached him, a mother's love is true and a forever bond. Thank you for sharing! Susan
Thank you Susan for that lovely message, I appreciate your kindness. Hugs G xx
