Yesterday I Met a Monster
just another day at the office ..

Yesterday, I met a monster
disguised as a man ..
He arrived in my clinic on
a British racing green
mobility scooter and was
bang on time too ..
Now I wouldnβt suggest he
was dressed
to impress, but rather to
shock and to
make sure he got noticed ..
However, he would
surely stand out in a crowd,
any crowd that is ..
Yesterday, I met a monster
dressed as a man ..
His clothes smelled of 1970βs
cologne and had
a well-worn sheen to them ..
He made me feel
dirty just by his, being there ..
He wore his
hair tied back beneath an old
bowler hat
and his beard was braided ..
By the way,
he never took that hat off
once and wore
far too many lapel badges
for my liking ..
Yesterday, I met a monster
who spoke like
a very well educated man ..
And who wore
his mighty collection of age
inappropriate
lapel badges, much like an
old soldier might
wear his campaign medals ..
He was clearly
also proud of the electronic
tagging device
strapped to his right ankle,
since he pursed
his lips and smiled when
I referred to it ..
Yesterday, I met a monster
who raped an
eight year old child then
assaulted two
others, all while they were
on holiday
in a tent by the sea with
their parents
apparently close by to them ..
The monster
in question, had only been
released on
supervised licence, a month
previously ..
Having served in excess of
twenty five years
of his life to date, behind bars ..
The monster
subsequently insisted he was
entirely innocent
of all charges, that he had no
recollection of it
and therefore, it must have
been someone else ..
The monster changed his story
several times
throughout that interview ..
He began to insist
it was the voices had told him ..
Then when that
failed to tease out a diagnosis ..
He began to cry
and claimed he was the victim ..
That all three,
of them, two girls and a boy
had egged him on ..
He was so good a liar, he was
almost convincing ..
But by the end of next month,
I am sure he
will go down again for a very
long time indeed ..
Yes, yesterday I met a monster ..
I just wish I had
then enough guts to have killed it ..

Ohhhh...Neville!Β A monster indeed! What a professional you are. I can smell his stench through your poem. What a horrible, terrible, evil individual! Those poor children. So many good people get terrible illnesses and die far too young ...and all the while there are monsters like this that are still alive. And not only are they still alive, they act like they should be treated with respect and listened to. He deserves to be thrown into a deep, deep, dark hole and then be buried alive. Yuk!
I'm sorry that your job entails you having to deal with scumbags like him. Hopefully you get to deal with nice people too xx
Thank you so much Tina, yes indeed I do xx
Your job must eat away at your soul.Β
Your words have eaten away at mine.
I can see him and feel him...your expression is perfect Neville. Thankyou for being who you are and finding the strength to continue to do what you do. π
This one got to me M .. I can't remember the last time I wanted to hurt something so bad ..
I am seriously thinking its high time I knocked it on the head .. xx
I can see why Nev, the trouble with what you do is that you are constantly seeing far more than most of us. You read souls as well as minds and that includes the very very worst of humanity....well I'm not even sure if i should say humanity here. Over time that can only damage and weary a person...you too...are only human.Β
I would agree about wanting to murder him. Maybe a break? Or less hours? Or even retirement? Or just murder the bastard? Ok...only joking. Just be sure to look after yourself first ok
βββyou are too important a voice to us on here...you have been missed π
Bless you Marion .. yes, I quite fancy retirement .. xx
Do it...you have served mankind sufficiently I think...let the bastards see to themselves!!Β
You can't change the killing but you can stop it killing you xx
I am liking more and more what I hear .. thank you again M ..Β πxx
My own father victimized me, I find solace in knowing death claimed him and he is burning in Hell. I have lived my whole life with that feeling of wanting to hurt someone so bad. very well written, poetry is all about invoking emotion. such a prolific write!
I am so sorry to hear that PD .. I trust your life is now considerably improved and thank you with all my heart for your disclosure ..
