Poem -

You

You,
Could take my heart-
And shatter it into miniscule pieces.
But I would tear my skin apart-
Handing them to you in hesitant reaches.

You,
Could shatter my confidence-
Leaving it like a mirror that would cause nine years of bad luck.
I would crawl back to you, forgetting any consequence-
Considering you’re the glue that has left me stuck.

You,
Could burn down the house I made out of you-
And construct a museum of flaws.
Then I’d become a construction worker too-
Saying you and I belong.

You,
Could gut me of all the hope I have-
Until I’m an empty shell.
And from under the water, you I will grab-
Fighting my way to your Earth from this hell.

You,
Could read and ridicule all of the words I’ve written-
Pretending not to know they’re about you.
But I would swallow that pill and to you I’d listen-
As I can’t stop believing you over me too.
