To you

This was never meant to be a love poem.
This was never meant to be your poem..
But I can't help it
When your facebook page is open to curious eyes
A profile picture to cover the lies..
I lay awake
At night.
I see the tease as she puts a heart for every old picture where my smile seemed so real next to yours
And you can see the naive in my eyes
As I try
To turn the page but the wind always seems to flip it back..
I'm still wandering
How you could leave so quick and I could fall so quick and you could love her, so quick.
I can't seem to fathom how real it seemed when you told me the space between your fingers were meant for me
And I still see the night you met her...... on our first date.
I can't help it
But I hope you're happy this time
Because you enjoy breaking hearts like mine
And you told me it was pointless to rhyme
Because the words I speak were never "good enough"
And "I could never love you enough". Well tough.
But I can't help it
I'll tell you I'm fine as all the stars in the sky steal your shine
You'll fade away. I hope your heart skips a beat like mine
When you hear her name...but maybe not for the same reason
Because the bed on your side is still made up
The plates lay empty on your spot of the kitchen table
I hope she knows your stories are more like fables
And you were never meant to be a forever
But I was never meant to be a cover
Because you always loved her.
You will be the only one that knows I lied
When I whispered to you
At night
As I lay awake
And this poem was never meant to be a love poem
But it's your poem
Because I can't help it
When I lay awake
At night
To think of you

ah sad but lovely write congrats x
yeah it was a sad time... thanks (: glad you liked it
Once again, Β a new star is born and job very well done, very sad but very well composed as well.Β
You have a deceivingly youthful visage for one so anointed in the ways of love and especially to know the tragedy ofΒ Β heartbreak! Anyone who's been through similar can relate - maybe too well! I dare not read it more than once, for fear of remembering the associated pain as well... Bravo!
