At Night

10p.m.
The first tear
It sticks to her face like glue... just gently rolling down as she tries to pick up the pieces from when her heart shattered on the ground because you told her you loved her.
She believed it too.
Stupid girl.
The way your hand fit in hers and the sands of time seemed to stand still with every butterfly that ever flapped it’s wings in the pit of her stomach for you
She believed it.
It must be true!
The way you waited a year for her to find herself when everyone else told her you were a wrong answer she needed to erase but she could never find an eraser
The way you kissed her all over until she loved herself as much as she once loved you
The way your mouth gave away all the words you would never say to her with every smile.
But stupid girl.
11p.m.
The heavy feeling in her chestÂ
She waits for you to lift her up like the way you seemed to lift the weight off her shoulders with every first glance
The way she counted the stars in your eyes every day because she swore there was more every time you looked at her
The way she watched the clock every second she was away from you because she couldn’t bare to be away from youÂ
She believed it.
Stupid girl!
12a.m.
And her mind wanders
She tends to think about something that happened five years ago, or something that happened 2 hours ago, or something that could happen 10 years from now
To find a distraction she goes to every social media site that has your everything so she can feel the love and heartbreak all over again
1a.m.
The second tear
It falls down her face… just gently rolling down as she tries to pick up the pieces from when her heart shattered on the ground because you told her you loved her.
She believed it too.
Stupid girl.
The way your hand fit in hers and the sands of time seemed to stand still with every butterfly that ever flapped it’s wings in the pit of her stomach for you
She believed it.
It must be true!
The way you waited a year for her to find herself when everyone told her you were a wrong answer she needed to erase but she could never find an eraser
The way you kissed her all over until she loved herself as much as she still loves you
The way your mouth gave away all the words you would never say to her with every smile.
But stupid girl.
2a.m.
The heavy feeling in her chestÂ
She waits for you to lift her up like the way you seemed to lift the weight off her shoulders with every first glance
The way she counted the stars in your eyes every day because she swore there was more every time you looked at her
The way she watched the clock every second she was away from you because she couldn’t bare to be away from you another second
But she’s been away from you.
Your hand no longer fits in hers
Time no longer stands still and all the butterflies flew away
She doesn’t believe it
It was never true
Almost two years wasted down the drain because she thought you would always be waiting for her to find herself but maybe if she could find the eraser for all the wrong answers that play over and over in her head
Maybe then this wouldn’t hurt as much
She misses the kisses you once gave her
If only you would smile for her so she can hear everything you won’t say
Stupid girl.
3a.m.
The heavy feeling in her chestÂ
She waits for you to text but she knows it’s no use
She can’t count the stars in your eyes any more
But she still watches the clock because minutes feel like years now-a-days
4a.m.
Her mind wanders
She thinks about all the good times you shared
Every word you said and didn’t say
Every touch
Every kiss
Every goodnight and Goodmorning text
Every hello… and every goodbye
She thinks about how everything you told her, you now say to HER
Like a broken record playing over
Because it’s 5a.m. And her heart is still broken and come 6 she’ll be in the shower to start a day of fake smiles and forced laughs
Of people she pains to see
All the ones who remind her you’re a wrong answer she needs to erase but she still.hasn’t found.the eraser…
