You never heard the wind whisper in your ear
You never  felt the sunlight on your face
You never smelled the sweet scent of roses
Before you were taken to that most heavenly place

You left before I could smother you more in kisses
You left whilst in my soft but firm  embrace
You left us with a short hello

You stayed to meet us all and prove doctors wrong
You stayed so I could hear your breath, though it was just a trace
You stayed to say goodbye, and hear the words I love you

You left on wings of angels who sang a beautiful tune
As they took you from me, knowing I could not chase
