Poem -

You are my ballast

I WROTE THIS POEM FOR MY HUSBAND JOHN

~~You are the ballast
That keeps me up-right
The keel that
Holds my direction
The rudder that
Guides me
Through the currents.

You are the sails
The spinnaker
Propelling me onwards
Into the wind
Close to the wind
That howling gale
Threatening to drive
Me off course.

You are the rigging
That secures me
That hold me
Sometimes knotted
But forever entwined.

And when the boom
Swings my way
Your call
Saves me from
Davey Joneses’ locker
Every time.
