You Do Something To Me

In the dim light of the corner cabaret
Billie sings through the smoke, "You're My Thrill",
And all the red eyed patrons float away with her
As do I, as I ponder the why's? And the booze in my veins
Seems to take me away into this cold existence of erotic lullaby
And pictures of you pass through my minds eye
As I remember the day little Ruby died
And a tear makes its way to the floor
Yes, I know you do something to me.............
I've known for so long that maggots tear at my soul
And I no longer dream, I suffer in sleep
And seem to always find my way back just to view you
For I cannot tear out my tongue, so I offer up me
Because I know, you do something to me
That puts out the light, and shoots the cocaine in my veins........
When I was a child I never spoke 'til I knew you
I knew it back then, we'd never be friends
I'd just give you my essence and let you screw me
I did this of my own torn indecision, and you smiled,
And you said, you felt as if you'd always known me
Like a glorious trumpeting of doom
Yes I knew it back then (a happy quicksand)
I'd known you'd do something to me..........
Now as we pass through these streets, with you dead in this box
On our shoulders
All the people do not cry, I need not ask why
Because I've always known
You do something to me...........
