YOU DON'T OWN ME
Don't tell me what to do, don't tell me what to say,
because you don't own me any more, my baby;
do you really feel answerable to someone else?
Pulling your strings - there's nothing that you can do.
I won't have it, I want my freedom, right NOW,
it's been so long, they called it compatibility,
tolerance, love, compassion, what do you call it?
Where did all that time go, it went like a ghost.
Maybe that's it, you are a ghost of your former self;
remember your old ways, didn't really used ro care,
now you no longer have the time to stand and stare,
you were coerced into something with no knowledge.
One minute you say life is great, then next it's not,
you don't own me - is that just something you forgot?

Such conviction with strong emotions of self-respect , nothing more freeing than having the courage to defend yourself and stand up for your independence. Great poem . ~RobĀ
