Poem -

You Never Loved Her

You loved what she did for you, you loved how she kissed you, how she hugged you so tight that you knew she would never let go. You loved how she smiled at you because to her, you were the best thing that ever happened to her. You loved her because she would drop any and everything just to accompany your needs, even if it met that hers would never be met. You loved her because how she looked at you with the glow within her eyes that seemed to never go away, because her love for you just grew more and more each day. You loved her because she was so fragile, that even if you did wrong, you knew she wouldn’t leave, but that she would give up any and every one for you at the end of the day. She had hope in the bottom of her heart that even though she was in pain after being done wrong by you that someday you would change and she would gain that happiness you two had at the beginning. But you knew, you weren’t ready. You weren’t ready to grow up, ready to be committed, but you knew she would stay by your side with all your wrong doings…so you found no rush to change. You were happy, you got to have your cake and eat it too; you told her you loved her, when you didn’t. You wouldn’t put her through the troublesome, if you did. You wouldn’t make the one you love wait forever to see change; after the first mistake, once you saw that tear slide down her cheek, you should have been able to see how much you hurt her. You should have been able to feel her pain that she flowed throughout every vein in her heart, because when two people love, they become one. They are able to feel and think what the other might be; you weren’t one, but two different people with two different mindsets, lost in confusion. You did not love her, you loved what she did for you. You loved what she did for you, you loved how she kissed you, how she hugged you so tight that you knew she would never let go. You loved how she smiled at you because to her, you were the best thing that ever happened to her. love is often misconstrued. we often believe that material things are equivalent to love. but love is captured in glimpses, not things. this poem speaks to exploitation. that is, men often use women, leading them astray by vowing to love them. but as you have stated, he did not love her, he loved what she did for him.

this is a good poem. and I look forward to reading more of your poems.
