You Should Hear What We Say About You . . . . . .

I said that you were fine - such a lovely man . . . . .
in fact, I'm your greatest fan, not just an also-ran;
your reputation precedes you, we all knew what you'd done,
it's up to you - had your choice, on your own head son.

Some of us are untouchable like my dear old mum,
made her own clothes, lovely person when all said and done;
where was the discipline, spoilt brat, used to getting own way,
nevertheless, there were some good qualities so they say.

Can you engineer luck? Maybe, direct some things to you,
if you don't do anything, then nothing will ever come new;
albeit good or bad, they were the best times I ever had,
someone said that they liked me because I was a bit mad.

You should hear what we say about you, down in the valleys,
of course, you'd never admit that you'd like to know what love is.
