Young Love

Young Love

I wish someone had told me when I was young and naive
The first person that made my heart pound
Had a 1% chance of sticking around

Oh don't say that
That is not what I want to hear
The thought of losing them breaks my heart
No one else will love me I fear

It really hurts there is no denying
From butterflies in the stomach
To spending nights crying

There will be others just wait and see
Let them go leave it alone

Put on a smile just believe

Take from an old gizzard who has been down this road
I wasted a lot of time kissing toads
Stop yearning for the one that got away
If they are the one for you
They will stay

The fish of the sea

Yep. This is a harsh reality, Shirley. However, I somewhat believe that heartbreak makes us learn and grow as people, getting us closer to our final love. I`m sorry you feel this way. But from my name; "There's plenty more fish in the Sea" Best wishes to you. Kind regards. The Fish of the Sea.

I agree, plenty more fish in the sea.Β  This was meant to encourage young people I know who have been heartbroken.Β  Thanks for comment.Β

You were actually lucky to have love while young, compared to me ;-))! Ones toad is someone's prince/ss. Thanks for sharing this good piece.

You are right and someone who seems like a toad to one person can be the best for another.Β  Life teaches us by our mistakes.Β Β

Hi SHIRLEY,
I was just going to see the poems that were written on my Birthday and I'm so glad I did!!......The honesty that emanates so beautifully from this write sends it right 'over the top' for me...putting it into category all it's own.....as if it were written as a life lesson for those that were ready to hear such powerful truth....and if they were fortunate enough to come across it at a young age then there life would surely be touched for the better!!.......ALL STARS & PINNED!!.....a truly wonderful piece of poetic advice!!......Bravo!.....LOVE & ROCKETS!!.......T xoΒ  : )
