Your First Birthday

Our precious Angel Nico, sixteen years ago this date;
Was a very special day for us, the first birthday of our Soulmate!
We left Altoona in the wee hours, to be in Philadelphia by nine;
 To see a very important client, where I had a credit line!
.
You ran around his Gallery, while I selected a batch of art;
Twenty thousand dollars he advanced me, out of the goodness of his heart!
I promised to repay him, when our house in Florida sold;
Two months later he got his money, just as your Daddy had foretold!
.
Then we stopped to see our buddy, who also had a Gallery;
You ran all around his business, while he bought paintings there from me!
Then we drove out to a large Pet Smart, bought you a toy and a Birthday cake;
We ate lunch at a little restaurant, where doggies one could take!
.
We traveled an hour to New Jersey, got a nice room in the Town Freehold;
We played outside on their large lawn, ate gourmet food from their restaurant sold!
Now today sixteen years later, we look back on this precious day;
Wishing we still now could hold you, instead of your floating away!
