Your People Shall Be My People

Your People Shall Be My People

You continue to feel the pain of your ancestors' lashes that have never been given time to heal.

Modern-day floggers reopen the wounds with a merciless, savage zeal.

Robbed of restitution, your warranted anger ricochets like a bullet upon concrete.

The perpetrators are blatant though they think they are discrete.
Β
My cheeks are crimsoned with shameful anger as I helplessly watch in vain.

"Oh dear God! Not another...no, no not again!"

Now their minions propagandize the ignorant with intention to perpetuate.

There are those who gorge themselves upon their sickening lies of hate.

But I am among the many who wish they could end what the dastardly did start

Sadly, I can only climb aboard the underground railroad within my heart.

I pray for the day when "your people shall be my people", and we love as we were intended to do.

In the meantime, please know that my loving heart incessantly bleeds for you!
