Your suitcase

Your suitcase

Whenever you packed your suitcase
it meant that you were going away for a few days,
usually to enjoy yourself somewhere,
my heart used to drop
and I would worry about your journey,
pray that you would be safe.

now you are working in a foreign land,
got your degree and doing things that I never thought you'd be capable of,
you have achieved goals that I have only dreamt about,
we don't see each other as often as we used to;
but whenever you bring your suitcase back
my heart beats faster,
for now it means hello,
not goodbye.
