A Depressing State of Mind

On the outside sixteen year old Sarah looked like any other normal girl but she was a total mess on the inside. With her emotions all out of control and constant voices in her mind Sarah found it very hard to make friends and this eventually drove Sarah into depression. Over the years Sarah tried to hide here feeling from her family and her few friends only to result in pushing a lot of her friends away completely. Eventually Sarah was without friends. She would often lie to her parents saying she was staying at a friends house for the night only to spend the night on the cold streets.
Eventually Sarah's depression was revealed and she wasn't happy about it. Her feelings turned to anger and she would take it out on those close to her and soon found herself on the streets. Sarah had no option but to go on Centrelink payments to survive. After only a few months into her life on the streets Sarah found her depressing thoughts coming back into her mind. Voices from Sarah's head would often tell her to end it all and commit suicide and as much as Sarah fought these voices they became louder and more appealing by the day. Sarah knew she needed help.
It was late on a cold and wet winters night when Sarah met Markus. Sarah had taken shelter in an outdoor car park and was setting up to get some rest for the night when she was approached by a man holding a blanket, a cup of soup and a bread roll. Sarah watched carefully as he came and sat down next to her putting the soup and roll down in front of her and put the blanket around her.
"Hello my name is Markus and you are?" He asked Sarah
"My name is Sarah" Sarah replied cautiously taking a sip of the soup which she found to be quite warm with a great taste.
Markus looked a Sarah for a bit whilst she finished her soup.
"Sarah I believe I can help you" he said "My caravan is not far from here would you like to come back with me tonight. We can have a proper meal and then we can talk"
Sarah didn't know what to do now. Should she trust this man or not? She was craving a good meal and some warm shelter and something about this man told Sarah he could be trusted.
"Ok I will come" Sarah said after a while of thinking it over.
"Great I see you out here often alone and cold and it makes me quite unhappy" Markus told Sarah as they headed towards his caravan.
Markus and Sarah talked most of the night and soon became good friends. Sarah moved in with Markus and they eventually got a house together. Sarah was eventually free from depression and she started a new journey full of happiness.
