Continuous

The universe is not made up of things. It is made up of processes. Matter is made up of energy. Every partical is just a tiny momentary step in a continuous process. They come and go faster than we can messure. But they never die. Because they are not indevidual things. They are a continuous process of cause and effect, action and reaction, reproduction. That process initiated more processes that continue on forever. The final out come produced may change as more processes are initiated, but those processes never stop. They may grow more complex or change over time as they interact with the new processes that come about, but really all processes are just new steps added to the original process. If all life ceased to exist the processes would continue on and they would, given an infinity in which to continue, likely produce similar outcomes over and over again. Processes never die. Your body is a step in the process of evolution. Actions and reactions, cause and effect, reproducing following the few never changing rules of the universe. What helps something live helps it reproduce more, helps it pass that trait onward. Your brain is made of pathways, processes of sharing signals with itself. Your mind interacted with other minds when it was still little more than a computer. A collection of automatic responses. Interacting with other minds in a social process helped it develop to the point that it begain interacting socially with itself. And the processes of conciousness was born. Processes never die. Who knows what each indevidual conciousness continues on to do, but it lives and dies in every fraction of a second with every thought, every step in the process. It continues forever. It may change when the original physical brain changes form during its process after the body has reached the end of this easily observable step, when your current physical form abruptly changes at the "end" of your life. But just as the body, that once began as a process in the dna of your mother before her birth, in fact even before her mother's birth, will continue on to the next state, back into the earth and cycle through the larger process of the "life" of our planet, all its parts having come together for a moment, then spread out again, ever growing and changing, your conciousness that began long ago in a primitive mind long before you were born must continue on. Processes do not die. No one is sure what the next state of a conciousness is once the body has gone to the earth, but there must be one. Its how the universe works. So, you dont need to be religiouse or spiritual to see that we really are all imortal. We are just never the same, moment to moment year to year, centery to centery.
