"Cure for every evil" By Ben Goode 2017 (c)

The warrior had traveled many miles alone.
His horse had perished from exhaustion, but he still walked on in determination to get to where he needed to be.
It was a peak he had been directed to go by an ancient wizard. The warrior did not falter, as he began to climb the steep incline, up and over the jagged rocks, and boulders, using a crude grappling hook and rope to assist him.
The warriors hands skillfully gripped the various walls of rocks, as he steadily made his way up. And he was nearly there, after so many grueling hours.
He seemed to whisper to himself, perhaps a prayer, or casting a spell, as he continued on.
He finally reached the peak. And he clambered onto a grassy patch, where he collapsed in exhaustion.
He surrendered, and felt his mind give away to a much needed deep sleep. His head was filled with distorted images of his journey. Remembering the sun beating down on him relentlessly, nearly overcome by thirst and starvation.
His horse had been his salvation in that way. As he had no choice but to feed off its carcass. And a nearby river had replenished his thirst.
His memories skipped back to why he was there. He had seen the slaughter of his family in his village.
Executed by a merciless warlord and his army which had invaded the surrounding lands.
He could do nothing at the time, as he he had been left for dead himself.
But a mysterious wizard had come to his aid, and took him in to heal, with his magics. And the wizard had apprenticed him, as time went on. But fierce vengeance stuck in the apprentices mind like a dagger, and he was determined to find a way to satisfy it.
The wizard had not encouraged it, but he could see his apprentice would never cease being distracted, so he gave him what he thought was an impossible task.
Perhaps the journey would force him back, and he would give up, and turn back. But he had indeed underestimated his apprentice. For he had reached his destination.
A destination which was almost as impossible as his will to live was. The warrior finally awoke after many hours. And he stood on the peak, looking out beyond the night skies.
"I have come from the brink of death to journey here. I want answers, I want revenge!" The warrior cried out, and echoes carried his voice.
The sky seemed to erupt with menacing thunder and lightning, as a powerful colossal deathlike deity revealed itself to him, along with two other gruesome guardians.
"I know why you are here mortal. I see and hear all that is. You have lived on beyond the time you were meant to join me, and yet you squandered another life to be here. Your own horse. A selfish act of ambition. Of revenge, fueled by hatred of one who slew your family. I know him well. And his acts shall not go unpunished, I assure you. But neither shall yours. I gave you a chance to live on, not to kill, or take justice into your own hands. You have seen, and heard more than any mortal man should. And that secret shall never pass your lips. You will return to your master and live out your life as a horse!"
A stallion returned many days later back to the wizard, who greeted him with a smile. He knew who he was.

"There is nothing so good for the inside of a man as the outside of a horse. ~John Lubbock, "Recreation," The Use of Life, 1894
