Dense & Empty

I think people are kind of like clouds. I know, a rather unusual concept, but bear with me. Perhaps I am spouting nonsense, but as I contemplate this statement, the more likelihoods I find. Now, here is your warning, dear reader. What I have to say will not coincide with what many of you believe, and will quite possibly start an outrage in some. Read this with an open mind, that is all I ask.
How bazaar are clouds, huh? How can something appear so full yet be so empty? From where I stand on the ground, these intricate floating pools of white in the sky seem like the most impossibly dense patterns of cotton. They look like a kingdom paralleled to ours, floating mountains with thousands of caves and fleeting inhabitants. Yet, so many times as I fly through the sky in mass metal birds, I pass through these floating rocks of white without even noticing. I look down from my window, stunned to see my reality has been switched, that these patterns of air I spend my days gazing up at are now beneath me, without even a bit of protest against such an intrusion. And I think you and I are much like these clouds, except we protest against every kind of intrusion.
We are each unique. Passing. Changing. And on the days we were not present, the Earth knew nothing but blue skies. Had nothing but a balance, a clarity among its existence. But blue skies grow tiring to look at. So much expanse of sameness, with no break in the order of things, in ordinary. Perhaps that is what God felt when He made us. Perhaps He wanted more than serene normal. He wanted to create something ever-changing, prediction-breaking, and tragically beautiful. But with clouds come the storm, much like with free-will comes mistakes. With knowledge, comes deceit and greed. Selfishness and quick decisions. Often, wrong decisions.
So we grow. Change. Expand. And, disappear. Each of us unique, unusual, dense yet empty. Needing so many more of ourselves to make an impact on this vast blue sky that is our world. Much like the clouds that make an impact on the vast blue sky that is their world. But, we are given something clouds are not. We are given the ability to fulfill ourselves, to become less empty. Faith, that is what we have been given. And, we've been given the capacity to hold this incredible, immeasurable depth. Like clouds, we gather this water. Drop by drop, we gain substance within ourselves. Clouds can only hold so much until they give up, until they rain themselves down upon this Earth. But not us. We can hold this water, this flowing Spirit that is of Him. And, we can gain depth. We can hold it all in. We can share it yet not lose it. Gain more without losing ourselves.
This we can do, but most will not do. Most will remain comfortably empty, always seeking and denying that which they seek. Or, others will not find it possible to keep who they are. They will lose parts of themselves that are so vital to their minds, just in hopes of absorbing a little more of that water, a water that has already flowed to every part of them .These people will be so caught up in trying to be what they conceive this Faith to be, in trying to be more godly, that they will lose the purpose of why they were created. Of why we were made to be human. They will lose the ability to appreciate being human.
And then, there are the few. The few will understand the nature of this impossible Spirit and will welcome it fully. These few will also do one of the most difficult things possible. They will live through this Spirit, they will not contemplate it or question it, but let it be what it is, and through this will gain the greatest understanding of this inconceivable notion. But the greatest trial of all is, they will do this without giving up that which they are and have always been.
