Departure

He's waiting to board his flight home again..lost among this tornado of busy faces. Loved ones embrace eachother as though they were the only ones in the airport. Children, joyfully hugging their parent..
"I just couldn't wait to see you!" She says
"I've missed you so much baby!!!" He says
"Daddy!!!!"
They said.
He walks away from the crowd towards the tunnel...on to his reserved seat by the window..
One seat will always suffice.
Watching out the small window as the plane speed up towards the runways end..that beehive city behind the airport disappearing into the past.
He wonders at the things he's just seen & imagines What it must be like.
He pictures the homecoming he might have.. Those that missed him..who couldn't wait to see him, waiting impatiently for his plane's arrival...watching as passengers begin to pour out of the gate and into the airport lobby...looking for him.
As the plane touches down he wakes up to find himself alone at that same window seat.
The sun mocks him.
Another airport filled with anxious people. More excited greetings of family..of lovers and friends.
Strangers..all.
He's marooned here..
This island stretches on and on..everywhere he goes.
