Everybody canât understand poetry. It is unearthly and the person who creates them is a demi-god. Why do some of us write poems? I remember; that in one of the interviews for my blog space, Williamsji Maveli mentioned that poetry comes from extreme pain. Yes, he has condensed the truest of his emotions through verses in his book " S.O.U.L.S" . 150 poems beautifully classified under its apt titles; Salvation of Souls, Soliloquy of Souls, and Songs of Souls make it a must-read for someone who is looking for a clear escapade from lifeâs traffic. Enjoy it like a toffee, slowly relishing its total essence.
Williamsji Maveli's life experiences make these poems more intense that many of us may not be able to relate to. But still, go ahead and read them cause you may go awe-struck to see that there still exist people who can bounce back through poetry. The strength of his character is clearly visible in his poem â " The Guide" , which is one of my favorite poems written by him. In this poem, Williamsji Maveli talks about how his own soul consoles him while going through severe distress and agony.
He also remarks on how life emerges within and not from the environment. Truly ainât it! Most of the time, we fight our own battle alone. Forget about all of that. Many times, we cannot describe the battlefield or the intentions behind the fought battles to others. On the days when our perspectives are lost and donât know whom to count on; It's the inner strength that leads us to our destination. âThere is a guide within everyoneâ, is the core meaning of this poem.
From the first poem to the last, it talks about the areas in which a soul travels, sometimes breaking itself from the shackles and the other times enjoying the journey. Each line is carefully stitched to the other lines, making a meaningful assortment of poems that reflect life. His love for Christian concepts and philosophies is reflected in a few of his poems included in S.O.U.L.S., like âCrown of Thorns. But he has taken his faith to a different level altogether. Williamsji Maveli is also a magician of imagery and symbolism. It takes multiple reads to understand the hidden meaning of many long poems.
S.O.U.L.S will definitely leave you a feeling of euphoria. Like touching the sands of the ocean depths or getting to talk to stars above the earth. It may feel like your emotions are replaying themselves in a set of verses. That's only because the poet has picked up life lessons to be his poems. It's an amazing read.
