ghost story that was told to me when i was a child

I was told a story about a couple who were newly weds.  Both desired to find the perfect house  to start their new lives together . Now  After many long hours and searches they  finally   came across a house .  A beautiful  house,  they both were mesmerized by it and called the real estate agent.  No sooner than done they both were standing in front of this dreamy house that had caught they're eyes,  the house looked brand new  and appeared  barely used  . After the tour they  fell in love with the place  and wanted to buy it  immediately.   The couple were ecstatic  that  they had  purchased  they're very first home and moved in as soon as possible . But this story has a twist in it a unseen one  the couple would soon  learn about in the past midnights  to come. Two weeks had gone by and the newly weds were so happy in they're new home, until  2 a m  the lady of the house was awoken from  her sleep to hear  the sounds of some one crying,  startled she sat up and glanced at the clock it was 2 a m, she thought she was still half asleep when she heard this noise  quietly  she listened to what sounded like faint sobbing in the distant,   frightened the lady of the house leaned over to awake  her husband , no sooner her husband was awake and the sobs  stopped . she told him what she had heard and asked him to go look around to see if anyone needed help . The husband  came  back and told her there was no one here he didn't find anyone, he told her it must be your imagination , feeling better they both drifted back to sleep. But the next night  the lady of the house was woken up, once more  to the sounds of distant sobs, barely awake she looked over at the clock again her eyes out of focus she looked to see what time it was again it was  2 a m .  she thought she was having some sort of nightmare but two nights in a row ,this time she could hear it distinctly  a women sobbing and crying ,frightened  she woke her husband up  and it stopped  again he went to look around and found no one . Every night at 2 a m it would start again  the lady of the house was the only one who  could here it .  Each night it progressed  and got worst every night the sounds became louder and clearer were they turned into screams of terror all the while the husband never heard a peep,  by now the lady of the house was so afraid to go to sleep at night she  was terrified,  the last night they spent in that house was when it was the most horrific night of all , again she awoke ,   but  by the sounds of blood curdling screams and the sounds of blood splatting and ax hitting flesh and the sounds of heavy foot steps coming from down in the basement ,  frantically she got her husband up and told him they were leaving she could no long stay in that house , they got out and drove to the nearest motel were they  stayed until the next day. As soon as it was  morning  they called the realtor and asked them to meet with them  they asked the realtor who were the  owners of  the house before they bought it , they were told a couple lived there before them long ago and the reason why the house  wasn't selling was because  no one wanted to buy it , the realtor explained  the husband had ax murdered his wife and buried her body parts in the basement horror stricken     the couple didn't set foot back in that house ever again they left all they're belonging  behind in that house and they left town immediately .  after hearing this ghost story I was so scared to go into basements  the end
