Humane

Inside the fire burned brightly, as all listened attentively to the speaker. Outside, the moon stole across the sky, as applause was given at pleasing words. Eventually the speakers speech drew to a close.

"Cheers!" He shouted, a smile beaming across his face. In the fire light it looked quite feral, but that was due to the subdued lighting.

A roar erupted from the assembled host, as they too raised their glasses and drank deeply of the refreshing red liquid. Eagerly they refilled their glasses and toasted again amongst each other. Euphoria flowed as freely as the drink this night.

The celebrating crowed, voiced their appreciation at such a fine vintage, that was been served for them to sup on. All had smiles upon their white faces. The speaker smiled his pearly whites at them even more, relishing this momentous occasion.

Years and years of hard work, negotiations and deal brokering, finally paying off. The harassment from the humane societies, fighting tooth and claw over the proper treatment of cattle, no keeping the animals in cages, no antibiotics, must be fed an organic diet, etc. the list went on and on.

But now, yes now...finally he had won, achieved the great goal of appeasing everyone's...whims. The document was signed, for good or ill and there was no going back on it. Now he had the power and they had none. Signed away...the ink might as well have been written withΒ  blood.

Silently he chuckled, all believed what they had seen. The animals were free to roam, eat what was natural to them, no outside influence and they were humanely put down...before ending up at their tables.

Fools!

They claimed now to taste the difference, of how much healthier, tastier the food was.

Idiots!

As long as they believed what they saw, they would find the feast to be superior. None here could discern the difference of what they consumed. All had become lazy, food was prepared for them. None assembled here were hunters anymore.

Pampered prats!

These pathetic masses, once descended from noble hunters, would believe anything you showed them, as long as it fitted in with their ideals. Live in harmony with nature, do not disturb the balance, all hippy rubbish! No one here cared how you killed, as long as it was humane.

"Really," He whispered to himself. Killing was never humane! You had to cater for those out there who had lost the urge to hunt and desired to be pampered and live as one with nature. So long as they had no blood on their hands, they were happy.

Imbeciles!

His smile grew broader as more people supped upon the feast he had provided. One thousand dignitaries were gathered under this roof, on this auspicious of nights, enjoying his hedonistic delights. All cavorting and relieving nights of old, none of them any the wiser to the truth.

The truth, what was that truly? Just another persons version of what they perceived. Altered to suit the moment, peppered with hidden lies.

Deep below the very floors they had inspected, this very day, lay the truth in its secrecy, hidden by the lie above. All had witnessed and signed away their powers, based upon a fleeting glimpse of reality. The secret below was well kept, none would know...till it was to late to do anything.

All these prissy knobs, with their ideas of how the cattle should be treated, were arrogant, ignorant buffoons, easily fooled by the simplest of lies.

At this moment, thousands of mere cattle were being slaughtered. Kept in cages, killed in the cruellest of ways, force fed...basically just being kept alive. Thousands more were being rounded up and being imprisoned. The scale of what was happening was world wide. As of now there was one world order to run the organisation again.

Bliss!

All gathered here were ignorant of the fact of what they had set in motion. Soon, all would be as he had planned.

Idiots, fools, he so wished to shout at them. To tell them to grow up, cast off these "civilised manners" they had adopted. It was killing them slowly...

Since the dawn of time, humans had been food, nothing more, nothing less. They should have been kept as slaves, bled dry when required. Who cared what they felt when they died. To survive one had to eat!

Finally, they had achieved a way of waking the millions of slumbering vampires from hibernation and feeding them. All assembled believed that it could be done humanely, that vampires and humans could coexist! Ha, millions of vampires were literally turning in their graves and here these idiots were thinking their ancestors would be proud!

Slowly he started to laugh at all present. None of them knew the true nature of those who would awake. When they awoke, they would be fed upon the humanely killed and then...released upon the world, where they would slaughter and consume the humans!

In the hundreds of thousands of factories, like this one, humanity would be farmed to feed them as the vampire Lords took over. These fools gathered here would fall with the very humans they tried to look after humanely.

After a few moments of laughter, he took a fresh glass of blood and drank deeply, savouring the recently drained nectar. Delicious floated through his mind as he drank once more. Soon he would be able to hunt again and tear into his victims, ripping, tearing, consuming.

"Hmmmm," He sighed at the beautiful images dancing in his mind. All thought he was enjoying his drink, none knew the truth...yet.

A new dark age was brewing, rising to the surface, Vampires ready to take their rightful place, once more, over the world. Soon they would be able to roam the world once more free, thanks to these humans, who had built this world for them.

How ironic, these humans would soon be treated like the very animals they hurt and consumed.

"Yes, ironic is the right word." He thought, beaming at his brilliant treachery, whilst licking his lips.

Soon...

Fools, idiots, children spoiled and pampered, ultimately, rabble and bad people, behind a Hunter always there is a mental patient. The story of Phillip describes a reality, ill-treatment, torture and cruelty with which we treat animals, but in a world where millions of people fleeing the horror of wars are treated like cattle...

Can you surprise us about animal cruelty?

Today in Tordesillas a poor beast has been persecuted, beaten, bitten and humiliated to death by a hundred drunken men armed with knives, call it tradition, and despite the opposition of thousands of animal rights BreakSoles has felt fear in his agony and his blood been shed facing the cruelty of people.

An ironic and fantastic story where human beings are treated by vampires as won, a world devoid of love, blood-stained and full of cruelty.

A greeting, and stating that I have wasted no time while reading it.
