I Worked the Bar in Beautiful Downtown Sodom & Gamorra

Both Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada were the closest things to Sodom and Gomorra that I had ever seen. I worked the bar in beautiful Sodom and Gomorra, for eleven months.
I worked the graveyard shift. (Midnight - 8 am) One night when I got to work, there were many police cars around the property. They had set up a barricade, and were not letting people come or go. I had to go in through the main lobby to clock in and start work. I asked around about what was going on. One of the customers at the bar who had been there for several hours,  told me that there was a hostage crisis. Someone was hold up in one of the hotel rooms in the back of the complex. That only lasted for a few hours, and resolved without incident.
On another occasion I came to work, and could not come in through the bar door. There was police crime tape in front of the entrance, and a chalk outline of someone in the fetal position, and blood near where the head would be, and all of this was right in front of the bar door. I went in through the hotel lobby.
After things settled down in the bar and the customers were gone, I talked to the security guard, Jim about the goings-on earlier. He told me that a hotel guest (high on drugs) was trying to buy something in the vending machine and the item would not come out. The “high-guy” started beating on the machine. Another guest from the hotel called security to report the disturbance. The security guard, Jim, (Jim was a former professional football player for the World Football League), tried to coax the “high-guy” into easing up on the candy machine. Jim tried to retrieve the candy for “high-guy”, but to no avail. Now “high-guy” was angry with Jim also. Jim, who was much bigger than most people I know, and not easily pushed around, but “high-guy” was doing his very best. Jim had no choice but to take “high-guy” to the security office on the second floor. When Jim started to call the Las Vegas Metro Police, “high-guy” became more unruly. Jim said that he had to knock “high-guy” to the floor and handcuff him to get him under control. At that point, “high-guy” was out of fight and lying on the floor.
When Las Vegas Metro Police arrived, they told Jim that he had done a good job, and they were officially taking custody of the suspect. Consequently, they told Jim that they were going to take “high-guy” up to headquarters for questioning. The Metro officers left with the suspect, and Jim began the time-consuming task of paperwork for the incident. Only a few seconds later, Jim heard a short scuffle and an unsettling thud.
Metro police told Jim, that the suspect simply jumped off the balcony. Jim told me, “The high-guy was in handcuffs, and there were two Metro officers with him. Moreover, the railing is high enough that you cannot simply jump or fall off. And where he landed, it looked to me,” said Jim “like he would have had, to have been thrown off.” I asked Jim what did you say to them? He said he was told to say, that the “high-guy” jumped. Jim was a good man, a big teddy bear; and although he was an ex-pro football player, he was like a little brother to me.

I think this is an interesting story that leaves the reader with lots of questions about the final outcome of the case. You leave the reader wanting to know lots more and I think you would keep your readers glued with a part two, if there is one? I hope there is!! You are obviously a talented writer and it looks like you have had an eventful and interesting career in public service. I look forward to reading more of your work, both your poetry and literature. Well done on a great piece of writing, I enjoyed this piece Nancy. Love George xx
