In Search of Light

In Search of Light

"When the heart loses its light, even the clearest vision becomes a deception; true light is that which glows from within, else every shine is but a trick." — Dr Shakira Nandini

Have you ever seen someone who appears refined, composed, and articulate, yet somehow spreads unease wherever they go? They claim to be reformers, shouting slogans of betterment, yet like a poisonous breeze, they contaminate everything around them. These are the ones who mask cunning as wisdom, wear fake smiles, and turn opportunism into an art. To them, truth is just a game, and falsehood, a craft.

The world has always been full of such characters. They neither truly care for others' betterment nor are loyal to any belief. They simply drift with the tide, hiding faces behind faces, adept at blending into any group — like a chameleon changes colour, so do they shift their faiths and behaviours.

When such people see a sincere soul, they call them a fool. To them, sincerity is weakness. They mock the truth of the heart as madness and pride themselves on being clever. But the reality is, they are the ones most lost. They belong neither to the outer world nor the inner. They wander endlessly in a fog — within them is no light, only darkness.

Imagine someone lighting a fire. There is light; everything becomes visible. But suddenly, that light vanishes, and they are once again lost in darkness. That is what happens to those who briefly encounter truth, only to abandon it due to ego, stubbornness, or selfishness. They live like the blind, stumbling through life — and in the end, loneliness becomes their destiny.

Have you ever seen a stormy night? Lightning flashes, and for a moment, everything becomes clear — then darkness falls again. A person walks a few steps in that fleeting light, then halts. This is life for those who are empty inside. They have never known the illumination of the heart, and so they mistake every sparkle for truth, fear every sound, and are disturbed by every silence.

A human’s greatest defeat is not that they lose — it is when they forget the truth within. That voice which once echoed deep in the heart — “Stop, this is wrong” — when silenced, turns the person into a living corpse. Then neither their laughter is real, nor their tears.

This piece was written to shake you. Perhaps you are one of them — or perhaps you've seen people like this. But ask yourself just one question:
Do you truly seek light — or have you become accustomed to the darkness?
Because one day, that storm will return… and this time, it may rob you of both your hearing and your inner sight.
