Inside the Mind of the Comic Super villain: Chapter 1

It was midnight. Glittering stars lined the city skyline like the lights from the skyscrapers, drawing beauty in the inky darkness. The city sat on a peninsula, dark waters going on eternally past a surrounding horizon. The road leading out of the city led to a few suburbs, and past that, nothing.Â
The city wasn’t made up of districts; it more was made of up of progressively newer, more technologically advanced layers. The shorelines contained a plethora of older shops and seaside fisheries that lingered from the city’s distant past.Â
In one of these cuter, older parts, a woman entered the “Eternal Love Jewelers,” heels clicking on wooden flooring. She grasped a purse in one hand, and her other hand grasped the holister on the belt sitting on her full hips. Her dress was a slick black, divided into two flaps from her hips down, moving and fluttering in the salty breeze through the door. The long sleeves hugged slender arms and a plunging neckline framed and exposed full, large breasts. She spoke in a sultry, soft voice that carried through the store like a speaker. “It’s show-time, boys.”Â
The two security guards standing in front of a safe froze in place, staring at the woman. Everyone knew who she was, and she reveled in it. “Scarlet,” one guard whispered to the other in a hushed tone.Â
Scarlet bit her crimson lip, flipping blonde hair behind her. “Now, we can do this the easy way, or I can kill both of you. Your phones and walkie-talkies do not work here. If you haven’t noticed, almost every wavelength has been short-circuited in here.”Â
The security guards looked at each other for a moment, nodding to each other. Then, one of them darted out of sight through the back of the store. This did not phase Scarlet; instead, she paused, giggling slightly. A loud bang rang out through the store a few seconds later.Â
“I wouldn’t try that,” Scarlet continued, “I’ve got my boys keeping an eye on the perimeter for me, and they have orders to keep an eye out for anyone trying to escape.”Â
The security guard stopped, staring at her.Â
“Now,” Scarlet continued, “please step aside and let me do my work.” She went over to the safe in the back of the store, leaping over the counter with relative ease. She worked at the safe until it opened, feeling the little movements under her fingers as the safe opened. She took everything inside, from large bills to gold to jewels. Then she went for the cash register, pulling out her lockpicks and fiddling with the lock. She heard it all click into place as the lock slid into position and she emptied its contents into the purse.Â
She smiled at the security guard, now finished with her work. “Thank you so much. Goodbye.” She walked out of the store, feeling the breeze blow her hair back. Trees rustled in the distance as her heels clicked on the asphalt.Â
The scent of salty sea breeze drifted through the air as Scarlet moved at a brisk pace down the street. Trees rustled in the distance, and the fabric at her legs fluttered in the breeze.Â
Scarlet dug through her purse and pulled out a small stick that appeared to be capped lipstick. When she uncapped it, however, it had a small, red button. She held a thumb over the button while putting her other hand to the earpiece at her ear. She spoke into it softly, not letting her voice drift too far into the breeze. “All good, boys. Carl, get my ride over here.”Â
However, instead of Carl’s response, Scarlet heard a soft snoring in the earpiece.Â
“Carl!”Â
A sudden, loud scream rang through Scarlet’s ears. “Scarlet!”Â
A slight irritation buzzed through Scarlet’s voice. “Were you sleeping?”Â
“No.”Â
“Was that a lie?”Â
“Yes.”Â
Scarlet put her fingers at her temple. “Did you pick up the boys?”Â
“Yes.”Â
“Thank you.” Scarlet pushed the button on the remote she held, causing a loud bang to ring out across the street.Â
“Hey!” Carl’s whirring voice rang through loud and clear. “What was that?”Â
“I’m cleaning up. Where’s my ride?”Â
“I’m working on it!”Â
Scarlet sighed. “Fine, but be quick about it. The police will be here any minute, and I don’t want another incident.”Â
However, her patience was short-lived. The flashes of blue and red rode in, and soon, cops were approaching her. The sirens’ noise cut through the salty sea breeze, and Scarlet was done with the irritation.Â
“Come on? Pretty soon the league’s going to be here. I don’t want to clean up that mess.” Scarlet stared at the cops, scowling violently.Â
“It’s finally time,” one of the cops called out, “We finally got you, Scarlet. Now, we can do this the easy way or the ha—”Â
The cop was cut off from the loud boom Scarlet’s ship made coming into view. The black, sleek ship lined the midnight sky almost invisibly, and windows, all frosted with mirrors to keep view away from the outside, lined the ship. It strode in, proud and bold as Scarlet.Â
“Well, here’s my ride.” Scarlet smirked while putting a finger to the earpiece, muttering softly to Carl as to make sure nobody else could hear. “Carl, put up the shield. We’ve got company.”Â
A confident “Of course!” rang through the earpiece as a small platform lowered down to the ground. Scarlet looked at the fear-stricken policemen, smiling. She knew that they weren’t going to fire until she did. They knew better. Really, the police were just a formality in this case. They secured the scene and made sure Scarlet didn’t escape. Nothing more, nothing less.Â
As a final hurrah, Scarlet pulled out her gun, aiming it at the police. Small, blue-tinted hexagons began to build from her feet up, leaving what appeared to be a translucent film around her, painting the world in slightly cooler hues.Â
The policemen responded by pulling their guns and firing, but it was too late. All of the bullets hit the film, causing soft little ripples in the shield like skipping rocks in a lake.Â
Scarlet blew a kiss to the policemen in a grand gesture as she rose, seeing them all become tiny ants beneath her ship and grandiose stature. She then stared down at her gun, smiling and giving it a kiss of its own. “You did good.” She muttered to it as she entered her ship.Â
