A Konan Story Melody to the rescue

Melody woke up one morning very cheerful indeed; she had, had a dream that night, that she was a princess were she protected all in her land. That day she wanted to make sure she got a head start building her reputation within her kingdom. When she walked down the stairs to follow the smell that she knew was her mother’s cooking she was happy to find out her mother had made her favorite apple flaps.

Before she went to the table she went to Konan’s room and let him out to see her. Konan was already wide awake and jumped up onto melody’s slipper he gave her leg a big hug. She picked him up and put him in his very own booster seat next to her at the table. Without hesitation she told her mommy she wanted to be a super hero when she grew up but she wanted to make sure to get a head start. She wondered if her mommy would help her make an outfit that would protect her secret identity. Melody’s mom was always happy to help her daughter make her dreams come true, so she said she would get right on it, but it would take a couple weeks to make her costume.

Melody’s mommy asked her to wash her hands before she could have any pan cakes. Reluctantly, melody said ok, and got up from her seat, then helped Konan out of his booster seat, and over to the sink they went. Melody had taught Konan to wash his hands just like she did. They got soap and ran the water and together they said their abc’s  abcdefg they sang together as they washed their hands. Melody made sure to get between her fingers and under her nails, Konan watched and mimicked as best he could. He only had two flippers, so he would rub them together, and was sure to get the fronts and back. Konan always had fun doing everything melody did. Melody’s mommy laughed at the site of them, a little girl and a penguin washing their hands together for breakfast. When they had finished their song they both put their hands under the faucet and washed off all the suds. Melody helped Konan from the step stool and back into his booster seat, waiting for him was a nice mackerel that melody’s mommy had purchased from the market the day before. He looked over to see Melody’s mommy already cutting up melody’s pancakes for her because melody was not allowed to touch knifes, they were dangerous. Melody’s mommy asked Melody if she wanted regular or raspberry syrup with her apple flaps and melody said both, Melody’s mommy said she had to pick only one; too much sugar was bad for her. So Melody chose raspberry. Melody took the raspberry syrup because she wanted to pour it by herself, and doused her pancakes in the syrup, she didn’t like butter on them, she just liked the fruity flavor of the syrup. Melody scarfed the pancakes down because she knew she would need all the energy she could get if she was going to save people today. And after 10 minutes the pancakes were gone. Konan was still eating his fish breakfast and melody told him to take his time so he did not get a tummy ache.  Konan did everything melody told him to do, so of course he listened, and ate his fish as slow as he possibly could, nibble by nibble. While Konan was eating, Melody worked on making a temporary costume that she could use until her mommy finished her real super hero costume.

She went into her daddy’s garage and got one of his safety goggles from his peg board, then right away ran inside went into the closet and got a large beach towel, the one with a princess fairy on it. Then ran upstairs finished getting dressed into a pair of shorts and a pink shirt, she then ran back into the garage and got elbow pads and knee pads and put them on and used a safety pin to clip the towel to her back as a cape. Then she ran back upstairs into her older sisters room Meredith and took a pair of goggles from her ski teddy bear on her bed and ran down stairs to give it to her trusty side kick Konan, by this time he had finished eating his fish and was actually helping Melody’s mommy do the dishes, don’t ask me how, he just was; Konan is weird like that, we don’t actually know where he learns some of his skills he is just awesome like that. Right away Konan hopped down from the sink and hobbled over to melody and grabbed from her the goggles that she got for him, he held them out in front of him unsure what to do with them. Melody took them from Konan and slipped them over his head, they were a perfect fit. Konan was very excited to play a new game with Melody and together they did their customary yippee. They leaped into the air as high as they could fist thrusting into the air, but Konan’s was more of a skip because Konan’s are not very good jumpers. Before they could save anyone Konan needed to get his trustee backpack from his penguin room so he ran as fast as his little penguin feet could carry and got his mini penguin back pack from the coat hook that was put at his height just for him, Konan’s back pack had become just like part of him he took it with him were ever he went sometimes it held snacks other times it kept melody’s toy’s but no matter what he had to keep it with him. Once Konan got his back pack he went back to melody and together they went outside in search of someone who needed saving. Right when they went outside a boy from across the street started to tease melody he said she looked stupid in her outfit and melody looked like she was going to cry so Konan went up to him and pecked at him with his beak, pecking as hard as he could at the mean boys ankles the boy started to cry and said hey that’s not nice you stupid penguin, melody picked Konan up and said no Konan we don’t fight fighting is what our enemy’s do and we are above that. She thought it sounded cool and a lot like something that the bat man comics her dad used to collect would say. Konan obeyed and looked back at the boy with a stare that sent a message that told the boy what konan was thinking (leave her alone or else). The boy named Bradley saw Konan’s look and ran inside crying. Melody said konan that was not necessary. Konan gave melody a penguin peck on the cheek which is like his way of kissing her so she knew he loved her so much. As they were standing there Konan sitting in melody’s arms they heard a little kitten say meow. Konan who could talk to other animals knew the baby kitten wanted help and was stuck somewhere in a tree so he told melody in penguin what he heard. Melody was the only person who could understand Konan and right away she jumped into action. First searching the closest tree then the others in the neighborhood the entire time calling, here baby kitty here baby kitty. Until finally she found the tree the kitten was in it was melody’s favorite climbing tree. Melody had Konan climb onto her back because Konan was not a very good climber. He clung to her cape as tight as he could. Up up up Melody went following the little kittens mews eager to save the poor lost kitten, she even recognized the cats mew it was her best friend Emilie’s kitten that she had just got last week, she knew her friend would be so sad if her kitten never came home. So she gave it her all as Melody climbed higher and higher to reach the baby kitten.

Eventually Melody reached the little cat and as she reached out for it the cat moved away, this was Konan’s turn to help, in perfect penguin he called out to the kitten saying it’s ok we won’t hurt you, the baby kitten had never in its life seen a penguin, but it had no reason not to trust konan, so it walked effortlessly along the limb over to were he and Melody stood on the limbs of the trees. She grabbed the kitty and began to climb down, but holding the kitten made it difficult to reach the branches that she had gotten to so easily on the way up and soon she too was stuck, and Melody quickly got scared. Konan clung to melody’s back and the kitten clung to melody’s front its claws dug into melody’s favorite pink shirt. She found a place were she could sit but Melody simply could not go any higher or lower. She was stuck.

Melody began to scream HELP HELP and Konan cried as best he could to get the attention of any passerby PEEP PEEP even the kitten chimed in MEW MEW like a choarus together they called out, HELP HELP PEEP PEEP MEW MEW. No matter how loud they cried no one came, it wasn’t until lunch time and Melody’s mommy called outside, Melody its pb&j Tuesdays that Melody’s mommy knew something was up melody would never miss a pb& j Tuesday so Melody’s mommy went to see what had happened to her little girl and hher penguin friend. It was not long before Melody’s mommy heard the chorus of the Help Help, Peep Peep, and the little kitten with its mew mew. Melody’s mommy called out honey is that you up there? Melody cried down saying she was stuck. Melody’s mom went into super mom mode she ran back to the house and got the ladder from the side of the house and ran back carrying it over her head ready to save her baby girl, Konan saw this and mentioned to melody your mommy must be a hero. Melody replied, well duh were do you think I get my super powers from? Once Melody’s mommy reached the 3 of them she could only smile at the site she saw Konan clung to Melody’s back and the baby kitten clung to her front, Melody’s mommy reached out and picked her baby girl up, kitten, penguin and all and step by step brought her down from the tree. Melody’s mommy carried her little super hero home, gave her a sandwich and then took the kitten back to emily’s house Emily was so excited to have her baby kitten back she gave melody’ mommy a hug only melody’ mom told her how it was Melody had saved the day it was then Emily knew she had the bestest friend in the whole wide world. When Mommy had gotten back home melody had helped konan to a fresh sardine. They were both very hungry from the adventure they had that day and were already so tired they wanted to go to bed. After melody had gotten konan his food she passed out on the couch so Mommy helped konan to snuggle up with melody and she put a blanket over them and played their favorite movie in the whole wide world Star Wars it wasn’t long before they were all asleep watching the super cool movie they were so tired they didn’t even notice when daddy came home. So when he did he just joined the club and fell asleep on the couch with his loving family
