Vietnam War Times- part 1

My granparents immigrated to Vietnnam during WW II
from China!

Life was good for all for years!

Then Vietnam was in war,
being from South Vietnam
we were protected by The U S!
At the age of 7  , I
was sent on a boat with an uncle and  32 others on the boat!
the boat was overcrowded
and broke away!
i was cast to the sea
a young boy of 7  I held on to a gas can.
i did not see my uncle!
i floated for a day,wondering how will
I ever get out!

then a boat in the distance!
As it approaches
it's a North Vietnamese
ship they pick up 7 survivors,none of which were my uncle!
 I hoped for a U S ship 
i was young and now sick
I was brought to an immigration camp!
i was put in with the woman who cared for me got me back to health!
after 9 months I was released and returned to Saigon!
My family at this time not knowing I was captive in a camp,
My grand mom had sewed 100 dollar bills inside my waistband .
the north vietnamese set them on fire!
