The Mysteries the Ocean Washes Up

Waves crashed on the shore, smashing the rocks they washed upon. Each one was its own powerful avalanche of blueish green waves that could knock a someone standing up, straight over. Nick and Lauren walked hand in hand as they view the magnificent beauty of the waves as their feet dragged along the sand that has collected so many tiny glistening rocks along the edge of the water, that no one could ever count the plethora of them. The sky was a baby blue without a cloud in sight. Behind them, a wagon trailed behind them that Nick pulled with his right left hand, Lauren’s hand in his right. He had packed a picnic dinner with matches and candles. They were going to eat on a red and white checkered blanket on the beach as the sun set. The kept on walking down the bank giggling and gazing into each other's eyes in a daze because they were so in love.

“Watch this!” said Nick as he picked up the biggest rock he could find, showing off his nicely toned arms and chucking it across the water with as much force as he could possibly exert, making it skip only once before sinking in the water.

Lauren just sat there smiling, but she herself had a competitive side. “Oh yeah?” she said mocking him, “Watch this!” She picked up a small rock, the size of her palm, and skipped it across the water. It skipped four times before sinking.

Nick looked back at her, not caring that her rock had beat his. He picked her up instantly with a both his arms so quickly she did not even have a chance to pull away. Not that she wanted to the slightest bit. He spun her around, letting her back down only to give her a kiss as the colors of the sun began to change. The sun was almost a purply orange color as it was reflected across the water.

They began the began to continue their stroll down the bank. The young couple had just been married only four days before. Neither of them could imagine a more perfect honeymoon than simply being with each other for the next two weeks. They talked about their future together and if they wanted kids and how they would spend the rest of their lives. They saw a spot that was flat and directly under a palm tree perfect for them to rest under and set up the perfect for their picnic moonlight dinner.

All of a sudden, Nick leaned over as he dipped the tips of his fingers into the now deep blue ocean. He flung his arm up as he brought a handful of water with it as he splashed it all onto Lauren, right when she turned to look over her shoulder to take in a mental picture of the sand that went on for miles and miles. She jumped as she let out a high pitched squeal that made Nick breakout into a bold laugh attack. Lauren ran into the ocean water, ankle high as she filled her hands with water, soaking Nick. They began vigorously laughing and splashing each other. By the time they were done acting like little kids, they looked as if they had each been swimming in the water.

They continued to walk on to the palm tree where they were going to eat under. Lauren and Nick walked with their fingers locked together as they swung their hands front to back over and over again. “I love you.” Nick said smiling but genuinely meaning it.

“Thanks.” Lauren said smirking.

“Wowww….” Nick said feeling rejected but knowing that Lauren was just messing with him. “Fine!” He let go of her hand and started to walk the other way.

“Okay! Okay!” Lauren said grabbing Nick around the waist tightly. They both started laughing when Lauren replied, “I love you too.”

As they continued down the path, the newlyweds were living off love as they were in a daze, walking now with Nick’s arm draped over Lauren’s shoulders and her arms wrapped like a blanket around his waist.

Lauren lost her balance all of a sudden when she tripped over a rock. Nick leaned over to grab her just before he saw something shiny. It took him by surprise, for he was not expecting it, his initial reaction was to jump back just as he did, he lost his grip with Lauren. He fell onto the sand with a hard, THUD. Sand splashed up into his eyes and he took a few seconds of blinking and looking up at the sun to make his eyes water for the sand to leave his eyes. He stood then turning to look at Lauren and help her to her feet. Instantly, he broke down right there as salty tears began to flood down his face.

To his misfortune, he saw his new bride, laying on the ground. Her body mutilated. Her legs ripped to shreds. Her bleach blonde hair now stained crimson from her own blood. He grabbed her in his arms still, praying for a miracle, even though there was no pule found through any of her veins. Her body seeming as if there was no more blood left in her body, as all around her was a pool of it. He wept over her until the sun arose once again.

He looked down at what he had thought was a rock, but seeing an imprint of a shark in the sand. There he saw the shark who had done it, just beyond the bank a little ways. He looked as if he was injured, starved and could not find his way back to the ocean.

Instantly, Nick grabbed the gasoline he had with him and the lighter for the fire he was going to have on the beach with his bride. He poured it on the shark and baked him alive. He did the same to himself, ending his life since he could no longer be with the only woman he would ever love.
