POETIC VIEWS BY WILLIAMSJI MAVELI

A LAZY DAY

How much do I crave
to have a day
when I would like
to sit silently for hours,
may be throughout a whole day,
gazing at the Neem leaves-- gossiping  to one another
in soft tones of a gentle wind
passing by like a common wayfarer
on a deserted hot noon street;

switch off the radio, t.v.
and my turant mind ,
be deaf to the sounds
of concrete jungle around;
flip no newspaper
but sip hot tea one after another;

enjoy watching the moth hopping on the window pane
like a joyous baby toddler
on my home-front bylane;

not even minding
a trifle earthquake
in the middle
of such slothfulness
of a pretty long time;

leap on to any little thing of Nature pristine,
drink her eye's red wine;
merge and mingle
into either a flower or a leaf
a stone or a piece of rock
on the cliff
a bee in a flower's womb
or a piece of earth
of my father's vanished tomb--

all these hardly matter
in face of the peace in shower
continuously from heaven
when you are seated in its  bower !

Saroj K Padhi

"A Lazy Day" by Saroj K Padhi portrays a longing for tranquility and connection with nature amidst the chaos of everyday life. The poet yearns for a day of stillness, where they can escape the rush and noise of modern society and immerse themselves in the simplicity of nature's beauty. The poem begins with the poet expressing his own desire for a day of solitude, where they can sit quietly and observe the world around them. He mentions the Neem leaves, suggesting a specific natural setting, and personifies them as gossiping to each other, creating a sense of intimacy and harmony within nature.
The poet desires to disconnect from technology and the noise of urban life, choosing instead to focus on simple pleasures like sipping hot tea and watching a moth on the window pane. This highlights a longing for a slower pace of life and a return to the small joys often overlooked in our busy lives. Even the possibility of an earthquake is dismissed as inconsequential in the face of the peace and serenity that come from being immersed in nature. The poet  wishes to fully engage with the natural world, expressing a desire to merge with it and become one with its beauty and tranquility.
Ultimately, the poem conveys a deep appreciation for the restorative power of nature and the importance of taking time to slow down and reconnect with the world around us. It serves as a gentle reminder to prioritize moments of stillness and reflection in our busy lives.-Author Williamsji Maveli

Relatable as well as apt. Poetic in point of fact. Agree fully. A poet focuses not on the elusive profound, but looks to what makes up the lives we all of us live.
