Poem:
JUST LIKE THE WIND
Wondering when life will give me up
Taking for granted all we've had
Waiting for something to restart
Praying for tomorrow's come back
Just like the wind
You took away all my dreams and let me fall
Just like the wind
You let me hope and lose it all
Wandering all alone in despair
Thinking we've had it all but life's not fair
Waiting for something to declare
Looking for you when you ain't there
Just like the wind
You took away all my dreams and let me fall
Just like the wind
You let me hope and lose it all

POETIC VIEWS:
“Just like the wind" sets the tone for the poem, evoking an image of something transient, intangible, and uncontrollable. The wind is often symbolic of change, movement, and the unseen forces that shape our lives. The poem captures a sense of loss, longing, and the ephemeral nature of dreams and hopes. There is a recurring theme of hope followed by disappointment, as seen in, "You let me hope and lose it all." This speaks to the human experience of yearning for betterment and facing the harsh reality when those hopes are dashed.
The narrator's journey through despair and solitude is highlighted by phrases like, "Wandering all alone in despair" and "Looking for you when you ain't there." This evokes a sense of abandonment and the search for connection. The wind metaphor conveys the idea of external forces beyond control, shaping the narrator's destiny. The wind's unpredictability mirrors the uncontrollable aspects of life that often dictate our emotional landscape.
The chorus, "Just like the wind, You took away all my dreams and let me fall," is repeated to underline the emotional weight of the experience. It reinforces the sense of helplessness and the impact of the loss. Vivid images of wandering alone and praying for tomorrow create a strong visual and emotional impact. The imagery of the wind taking away dreams is particularly powerful, evoking a sense of dreams being scattered and unattainable.
Through its evocative imagery and central metaphor of the wind, the poem captures the emotional turbulence of the narrator's journey. The repetition of the chorus underscores the persistent impact of these experiences, leaving the reader with a profound sense of the fragility of dreams and the inevitability of change.-Author Williamsji Maveli
