Poem:
HER OWN WORLD.
She was the odd one out in her world
of her near and dear ones
sincere to the core
impartial and honest
ever modest
in her these virtues took abode
smothered in her cloak of humility
when all others rose in life
their ladder of success
rising to huge dimensions
she remained unaffected
her thoughts on the Bhagavat gita
the words from the scripture
echoing in her heart
your karma you do
without any expectations of reward
eventually you will be blessed by God
Living and dying
With your name written in golden letters
for others to know.

POETIC VIEWS
The poem "HER OWN WORLD" explores themes of individuality, humility, and spiritual devotion. It depicts the life of a woman who, despite being surrounded by those who pursue worldly success, chooses a path of sincerity, modesty, and devotion to spiritual teachings. The poem emphasizes the virtues of selflessness, humility, and the importance of performing one’s duties without expecting rewards.
The poet employs imagery and symbolism to paint a vivid picture of the protagonist’s world. The “cloak of humility” symbolizes her protective barrier against the materialistic world. The “ladder of success” serves as a metaphor for societal aspirations and ambitions, which contrast sharply with the protagonist’s steadfastness in her spiritual journey. This dichotomy between worldly success and spiritual fulfillment is at the heart of the poem.
The reference to the "Bhagavad Gita" is a significant allusion that anchors the poem in spiritual and philosophical thought. The Bhagavad Gita, a revered Hindu scripture, advocates performing one's duties with dedication and without attachment to the fruits of actions. This teaching is the guiding principle for the protagonist, reinforcing her actions and outlook on life. It suggests that she finds peace and contentment in following her spiritual path, rather than seeking external validation or material success.
The tone of the poem is contemplative and reverent. It respects and admires the protagonist’s steadfastness and her unwavering commitment to her principles. The mood is reflective, inviting readers to consider the value of humility and spiritual devotion over worldly achievements. There is also an underlying sense of tranquility and fulfillment that comes from living a life true to one’s values.
