- Stick your neck out just a little...
- And see how far you get
- Maybe another answer
- Will involve you getting wet ?
(Turtles weigh a tone and it has outlived the dinosaurs by 65m years. But the leatherback sea turtle - one of the largest, oldest and widest-ranging marine animals ever to cruise the oceans - could be heading for extinction.)
- So dive a little deeper
- The shore is always near
- Making your way back to land
- Never scared to swim...
- The Adrenalin.!..!..!.
- My helping hand
- Keeps me close to sand.
- Protected....I remain here...
- As life pushes me to the brink
- I question why I'm not extinct ?
- Giving myself time to think...
- I'm soft inside
- But when I need to hide
- I swallow my pride and confide...
- My shell has proven it's strength....!
(An excellent imaginary by Poetess Carey Milton. Turtles of terrestrial, freshwater, and marine reptiles that have a toothless horny beak and a shell of bony dermal plates usually covered with horny shields enclosing the trunk and into which the head, limbs, and tail usually may be withdrawn—called also chelonian. The poem is very symbolic in its presentation and also depicted in a natural background of environmental aspects)
So at a turtle's pace
I create my space
A secret place....
Where slow and steady
Wins the race..!
Thus a turtle
From lands
Prehistoric....
Is sharing these words
His hopes
Rhetoric...
Living and existing
Should never be compared.
As the turtle lives...
This knowledge he gives
Thus his ancient wisdom is shared..
(Leather backs have become the world's most endangered sea turtle. The creatures, which can measure up to three metres long and 2 metres wide, are caught by gill nets and long lines at sea, their eggs are raided on land and their nesting habitat is being destroyed.)

This is fabulous write, I love it, You have depicted a life with a comparison with that of the turtle. Turtles are reptiles characterized by a special bony shell developed from their ribs and acting as a shield. Turtle may refer to the chelonian order as a whole or to fresh-water and sea-dwelling chelonians. Turtles are ectotherms —their internal temperature varies according to the ambient environment, commonly called cold –blooded cold-However, because of their high metabolic rate, leather back sea turtles have a body temperature that is noticeably higher than that of the surrounding water. It weighs a tonne and it has outlived the dinosaurs by 65m years. But the leather back sea turtle - one of the largest, oldest and widest-ranging marine animals ever to cruise the oceans - could be heading for extinction. In the rainforests and the savannahs, and in mangrove swamps and coral reefs, wild things are threatened on such a scale that zoologists now refer to the modern era as a period of mass extinction. Less visibly, ocean-going creatures are also disappearing. Sharks, marine mammals such as dolphins, and even Atlantic cod are at risk from overfishing. Turtles, however, come ashore to lay eggs, using the same nesting sites again and again. Researchers can count them as they go out, and as they come back. Conservationists are looking at ways to prevent turtles being snared on the long lines set for swordfish. They are trying to work out where the turtles go, and when, so fishermen can avoid the most vulnerable grounds.
Please accept my congratulations for sharing this fabulous poem narrated in a sarcatsic style by Poetess Carey Milton.
