She is an admired fire dancer
Elegant equine romancer
Trotting ablaze in soulful play
She is such a heated prancer
Star born under the fire sign
Heated flame, ignited design
An inferno pulsating through
An untamed passionate blood line

( Since ancient days, the fire  dance summons spiritual energy. It began with rituals conducted as part of ceremonies or celebrations. The fire burning smelling sweet, pipes were offered, servers came around and offered berries, and can be heard like a heartbeat as songs were sung. )

For those who dare take up a chance
To observe her in fiery dance
Her wild burning spirit beguiles
With whimsical moves that entrance
Magic alight upon winged horse
While flying high, in steady course
With blazing display she presents
A most torrid reckoning force

( The bright side of every thing is beautiful, but the dark has its negativeness, as do night and winter and death. At the fire horse Dance everyone believes in harmony )

You must appreciate the flare
Of this hot handling feisty mare
The wind ignites her lapping flames
For show in prominent affair
In an all consuming red fire
For reflection of her desire
As her kindled ballet takes flight
Her fire refuses to expire

( Horses like fire flames, It stimulates the thrill to make a performance, and the participants at the Horse Dance all experienced that supernatural energy from echoes of the past )

“Come hither!” she seems to exclaim
She turns up the heat in her flames
And continues her ardent dance
While tossing violently her mane
To every stallion in the mire
But they know - if you play with fire
You are most likely to get burned
Beautiful fire dancer is spurned

( The symbol of a horse is the metaphor for the body and its strength that which carries our immortal soul through this incarnation. In this celebration of the fire horse dance, we get to work with reversals and blocks to experiencing and loving our own bodies, and to come to a whole new level of co-operation and mutual delight across the levels and systems. This is a beautiful, powerful and highly energizing experience.)

During ancient times, people considered fire as one of the basic elements of the universe, along with water, air, and earth. Fire can be a friendly, comforting thing, a source of heat and light, as anyone who has ever sat by a campfire in the dark of night knows. Yet fire can also be dangerous and deadly, racing and leaping like a living thing to consume all in its path. In mythology, fire appears both as a creative, cleansing force and as a destructive, punishing one, although positive aspects of fire generally outweigh negative ones.

People in all parts of the world tell myths and legends about fire. Numerous stories explain how people first acquired fire, either through their own daring or as a gift from an animal, god, or hero. Poetess Cherie Sumner is a passionate horse lover, ever since she was a child, she used to enjoy sketching and painting God's creatures, especially horses. This poem is fabulous in its depiction and is a gift for COSMOFUNNEL readers. Please accept my applause and Congrats dear Poetess Cherie Sumner.

Poetess Cherie Sumner,

Your poem " Fire Dancer" is fabulous verse and the picture attached to it is superb. My applause to you

My Poetry scrutiny or appreciation is a process of investigating a poem's form, content, theme and its history in an informed way, with the aim of heightening one's own and others' understanding and appreciation of the poetic works. This I am doing it voluntarily and whole-heartedly as a part of literary exercise. I do not take any advantage or inner pleasure posting it in this site, but rather I love writing in any kind of form.

The words poem and poetry derive from the Greek "Poiema ", which means literally " to make "  and poieo means " to create". That is, a poem is a made thing: a creation; an artifact. One might think of a poem as, a "machine made of words". Machines produce some effect, or do some work. They do whatever they are designed to do. The work done by this "machine made of words" is the effect it produces in the reader's mind. A reader analyzing a poem is like to a mechanic taking apart a machine in order to figure out how it works.

My job is to perform the so called machine work,

Good luck, God bless
