I was living on a wing and a prayer
Treated like a trophy, in dusted care
Placed upon a pedestal, viewed by all
A set-up display just to watch me fall

(The very first line of the poem starts with a phrase, "I was living on a wing and a prayer" means In poor condition, but just managing to get the job done. The next three lines of the stanza display a magnificent imaginary of a divine trophy of life)

It was no time before you knocked me off
This fragile angel could not bear your scoff
True love should never feel bought like a prize
It took the fall from grace for me to realize

(The hands you stuck together when you prayed you'd wait forever.Just another fragile angel heart falling down on lead wings torn apart)

I do not need angel wings to soar and fly
I shall fling them off as I say good-bye
You stripped me bare of most everything
With head held high, I’m flying without wings

(Flying without Wings means almost the same thing as “I’m at the top of the world”, only better. In complete bliss, you feel as if you are flying. In fact, your life is soaring, but you haven’t physically got any wings. Therefore you are flying without wings.)

The air feels much lighter as I rise above
A past of pain up into new clouds of love
Freedom sings a song in a lover’s cradle
He saved my life before fate turned fatal

(Our title to heaven is given freely to those who accept the fact that God bore our wrongs against himself when Jesus died on the cross. When we ask Him for forgiveness and a new heart in order to keep His commandments, He will freely give us both.)

Truth be told, my life before served to deter
Me from finding special love, real and pure
Heaven opened gracious gates just in time
For a dear soul’s path to finally cross mine

(There are many popular myths about heaven that create misunderstanding. According to the Bible, the universe is not only infinite, but also filled with intelligent, friendly, benevolent beings. The most amazing and almost unbelievable fact is that the way to heaven is not complicated.)

Now he holds my heart gently in his palm
I surrender all to him, willingly and calm
No feathers to flap; I cut all ties and strings
His love holds me up; I’m flying without wings

( He awoke and holds the heart to the feel of someone’s hand cupping his face, gently, as if the owner of the hand was doing his level best not to wake him up. Excellent depiction of love)

There are as numerous definitions of poetry as there are poets. Wordsworth defined poetry as "the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings;" Emily Dickinson said, "If I read a book and it makes my body so cold no fire ever can warm me, I know that is poetry;" and Dylan Thomas defined poetry this way: "Poetry is what makes me laugh or cry or yawn, what makes my toenails twinkle, what makes me want to do this or that or nothing." Poetess Cherie Leigh Sumner's poems are highly mystical and heavenly in nature. There are many popular myths about heaven that create misunderstanding. According to the Bible, the universe is not only infinite, but also filled with intelligent, friendly, benevolent beings. The most amazing and almost unbelievable fact is that the way to heaven is not complicated. Our title to heaven is given freely to those who accept the fact that God bore our wrongs against himself when Jesus died on the cross. When we ask Him for forgiveness and a new heart in order to keep His commandments, He will freely give us both. There are three major meanings to the word heaven in the Bible. The word "heaven can mean God’s dwelling place. The Bible says: "The LORD has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all God's throne is also sometimes mentioned in connection with the mountain of God. The Heaven may also be referred to the endless planets, stars, and galaxies of the universe.

Please accept y congratulation for sharing such an amazing poem to COSMO readers.
