Fate has been cruel; no potential to stop
Then love made a way, over mountaintop
Such anger, guilt, and pain built your fortress
But I felt your gentle heart, nevertheless
( Love always seeks different ways and means for sheltering and preserving its purity and nobleness. This poem depicts the basic underflow of love in its real sense. Human senses of anger, pains, guilt-all bundled together in this simple, but strong verse from Poetess Cherie Sumner. A fortress is a place or source of refuge and support or to get protected with a defense )
The key to your escape is in my eyes
The love they convey will not compromise
Until you are free and walls tumble down
Crushing a past that has hurts so profound
( What makes a true love you may think which depends on your own mind. You may not be in a way to make the others to think the way you want. There you may have to make compromise-That is life. Life is a n overall compromise)
Let us build a barrier of a different kind
Its strength fortified by a love designed
With trust, respect, and protective walls
Holding love in, casting out the pitfalls
( What makes love true and genuine is when you cry out to your lover without any fear and by making your slightest gesture of love and this still be noticed within the walls of the fortress captured and safe-guarded by all means )
Every stone in place, a memory new
Our labor of love, a tower of refuge
And then as we both cuddle up inside
This fortress will protect the love applied
( When life is a bundle of debris and ruins out of your love, a feather touch of your lover will heal the wounds and scars, also when a wolf howls with agonizing pain searching for its lost mate. The fortress remains as a strong protection of love encountered within the hearts of lovers. This is life in short. Poetess Cherie Sumner has depicted this element well through her verse )
The outside world may whirl wind and whistle
And try to penetrate with thorn and thistle
But our strong fortress will prove to withstand
Protected by God’s willful power in command
( True love is not just an emotion or feeling, but its is an amalgamation of your mind and soul with a total maturity of God's fear covered in it )
And each moment will reflect a promise
To nurture and adore you true and honest
Your destructive prison of yesterday
Replaced by a loving haven, here to stay
( The illustration of a fortress is very clear in the mind of the author and the poetic theme I being developed by the poetess is really amazing. I should admire the way She has narrated the instincts of protective loving by way of nourishing it in its real sense )

The fortification and protection in the unifying power and holiness of love is well captured and so nicely in this poem in a heartbreaking style by the golden pen of Poetess Cherie Sumner. This has been tailored is a simple style with enough ingredients and poetic instincts, articulating and longing for real love.
What is Poetry? Poetry is the chiseled granite or marble stones of language; it's a paint-spattered canvas - but the poetess uses words instead of paint, and the canvas is you. Poetic definitions of poetry kind of spiral in on themselves, in fact, I believe we can render an accessible definition of poetry by simply looking at Poetess Cherie Sumner's style, form and the narrative skills exhibited through this poem amazingly. My Congrats and appreciations
