Martin is an aspiring young lad(16) with a crush on Madeline. He is rather shy with her, but is otherwise outgoing and confident. He has some psychological issues with insecurity, but truly is honest. He wants to be a hero, to qualify for Maddies love. He is squired to Sir Reynald, a vain and nincompoopish knight who will soon be dismissed.
Madeline is a talented 15 1/2 yo with big dreams, and a fondness for Martin. They both grew up together, with similar likes and dislikes. Neither is very open to the other out of fear, but are colloquial. Madeline wants to leave the house life for an adventure, but Beth wants her to have a successful life as a singer.
Bethany is a mother figure to Maddie. She is her sister however, and a skilled healer. She has kept her father alive for 12 years, out of sheer hope and desperation. she is overprotective, but eventually will grow to accept Martin.
