Power vs. Submission

Antonyms, one could say. To have power is to control every aspect of your life and environment. To be submissive is to totally curl up and die as your life passes you by.

And what makes power so alluring? How grand it is as children, to stand up on the tallest hill and look out at the world at your feet. To feel as through we own all that finds its self below us and in our destructive wake. It's like a drug- to feel powerful, with side effects like confidence and third party envy.

Submission can be likened to a drug too. A junkie who just wants the pain to go away, will succumb to thoughts of oblivion and sink into the dust with a handful of pills or an arrow to the arm. And don't we all want to just accept fate? To give up and let the storm just take the house up in the air? To welcome fate and the black cat pawing at the door? To stand in the rain and the have it not matter; have it not be confused with their tears because they fail to feel- fail to cry anymore?

Are they really that different? Doesn't with power come submissive followers? Doesn't all a submissive, weather beaten person wish for is the power to control whatever drenches their soul and weighs them to the ground?

Doesn't everyone want power to control the storm?

For you see, being in power, being a leader; and being submissive, being a follower, is not a big deal. What is a big deal is using your power to corrupt; using your submission to seek pity.

You can follow the crowd and be a leader in your heart, and you can certainly lead and take directions from those of your past or present.

For you see, the real difference between power and submission is not their definitions, but the intentions behind them.
