Prince in the Shadows
There was this kingdom in middle earth that was inhabited by a worrisome group of people because they were once attacked by a kingdom to the west. Their fortress was planned carefully with precision and accuracy. The guards patrolled the walls and back and forth through the kingdom corridors. There were archers up high in the towers watching carefully over the western horizon. The peasants all lived in fear and barely ever stepped foot outside the kingdom walls. The farmers were cautious and treaded carefully through plantations of food for the people and the guards. The king Draco Sidious was very gentle yet big and strong even at his age of 70 he could win any battle from inside the fortress. He didn’t believe in war but he was always prepared for the worst. He planned and strategized all what ifs, but he always hoped for the best.
There was this prince named Draco Sidious JR who lived in the shadows of his father’s trials and tribulations. He isolated himself in his chambers and wrote dark stories and script. He would have food and water delivered to his chambers by the maidens. Everyone worried about him and the fate of the kingdom. The king Draco senior lost his queen and felt unsafe and didn’t live at ease. He squirmed in his thrown as his joker would cheer him up. His knight advisories worried about him and his son. One day the head advisor Brien came to his thrown and knelt before him a spoke cautiously “sire” “YES” said the king. Brien rose up and said “you must go speak to your son, we’re all worried about the fate of the kingdom and you need to spend time with him”. “May be you’re right; I’ll sleep on it and go speak to him in the morning”.
At the break of dawn King Draco rose from his rest and immediately walked over to Prince Draco’s chambers and sat beside him. Prince Draco had a concerned look on his face because this was unusual and peculiar. The father spoke to him sternly “I need to speak to you my son”. “Am I in trouble” the prince trembled”… “no my son”; alright then, what is it”. I wanted to ask you why you isolate yourself from the people who need you, you are next in line to be King and I want you to find your princess, and we all worry about you and the fate of the kingdom”. The king noticed a poem on the desk in front of the prince and asked if he could read it. The prince said “it’s nothing dad and the king said “it’s not nothing son… if it came from your heart it’s something. So the prince handed it over and read it to himself…
“War is a plague”
Still I fight this battle inside my mind
Fears of what could happen
Fears of what could possibly be
What have we become?
Cowards in our chambers
Hiding behind these walls
Never reaching a destination
Out beyond the horizon
We can fall off the edge
Of disbelief and what we can become
What we think of ourselves
Always come back around
Faithless we all tremble
Lifeless we all render… Why does tomorrow never come?
Then the king remarked “May be you’re right son, we are our own worst enemy but we all have to learn to look on the bright side… the first step of wisdom is admitting that we don’t know everything, the second step is admitting our faults; then the final step is knowing where we went wrong and learning from our mistakes”. “Realization is the key to all knowledge and we can’t be greedy and take more than we need. If we have more than we need we must give something to those that need it”.
“Okay but what about the rest of the world beyond the horizons… what if they attack us; what if they win” spoke the prince under his breath trembling.
“My son, it’s in God’s hands and all that matters is if you’re right in the heart”… there is nothing to worry about, we can’t change other people; we can only change ourselves. Show by example because we can say many things in our lives but without action it doesn’t matter anyway. No one will listen if we don’t do what our hearts and minds are set out to do. The prince spoke happily “how do I know what God wants for me”? “Well son’ it’s simple; listen to your heart and think with your mind and the rest will fall into place”. “Put this poem along with all you’re writing in a box and put it away in a hiding place, tonight I want you to meditate in the spirit and set a goal and plan a destination. Sleep on it and rest peacefully my son and in the morning you will know what to do.
Then at the break of dawn he rose up joyful and gratefully awakened and he sat at his desk and started over renewing his mind and changing his heart…
“Peaceful Render”
We can become what we think
Replaced time with gold
And gold with diamonds
Giving to the poor boy down the road
All he needed was love and patience
All he needed was time well spent
Someone to listen… Some priceless advice
Some hope for tomorrow…
No one truly knows everything
Aside from the lord above
All knowing and all wise
Forgive often enough to shine
Love with all your heart
No matter what happens
We don’t know what tomorrow brings
We can set up a dying fate
Or we can live for today
Prepare for all trials and tribulations
Hope for the best for tomorrow
Keep the faith… love with all our hearts
Small steps to get there
Beyond the horizon with one step at a time
Then Prince Draco’s left his chambers, walked down the hall and entered his father’s chambers and walked up to his father’s thrown. He recited the new poem to his father than he left his father’s chambers and left the castle. He spotted the little boy down the road and he gave him a purse of gold coins then he walked out of the kingdom walls. As he walked toward the horizon he realized that the journey had just begun…
