The beast within

She ran from the monsters chasing her. She knew she couldn't stop. She ran through the rain and thunder, oh, how her thoughts haunted her. She had to find a place to rest, but that idea wasn't the best. The beast chased her day and night. Leaving her with nothing but fright. She slipped and fell in a puddle of mud, giving her monster time to catch up. She tried to crawl away, but wasn't quick enough. The beast grabbed her and turned her around. And for the first time she saw the monsters face. What she saw was her own smile.
