The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me

As a kid, I was always very social and I loved all of my friends. I had a lot, and they were a big part of my life. I went to McBain Elementary School until 2nd grade. McBain is a town where everyone knows everyone and where most of my family lives. All of this is what made it so hard to leave as a seven year old kid.
I remember when my parents told us we were going to move to Petoskey. I was heartbroken. One of the worst things about it was that we decided not to move, and then we ended up moving anyways. I cried very often about it, and it was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do. Leaving my entire life behind was not a fun idea. Something funny that sums up my entire childhood is that I asked my parents if I could get pokemon cards after we moved. When they said yes, that lessened the blow by a significant amount. But anyways, my brother and I had a talk with my Aunt Tami about moving and she told us how lucky we were to have this opportunity. After that, moving became a little easier, but yet didn’t really make me fully accept it.
Moving day was something around the fall solstice and it was just in time for me and my siblings to start a new school year. I remember riding with my grandpa up to my new house in Petoskey, and starting to tear up as we pulled out of the driveway. That’s something I will always remember. Not as something negative, but a positive. It’s when my life changed for the better. When I got to Petoskey, I immediately made friends. It wasn’t until long that I was happy that I moved. I met a lot of great people, and it’s hard to imagine how much worse my life would have been if I was stuck in a small town with a small variety of people. Now I have some of the best friends and the best memories made. This whole experience taught me something that not many things could. I learned to accept change and make a new life.
